Income Tax Return AY 2021-22: How to download Form 26AS online

 









Those who have already filed the Income Tax Return (ITR) for Assessment Year 2021-22 (AY22) or compiling information to submit the same already know what is Form 26AS. It is to be noted that the deadline to file ITR for AY22 is December 31, 2021.

The crucial income tax reporting document Form 26as shows various details such as tax deducted or paid on taxpayers’ income from various sources. It is basically a tax credit statement of the assessee which includes Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), Tax Collected at Source (TCS), Advance Tax or Self-Assessment Tax paid, Regular Tax, tax refund received, details for an Assessment Year etc. The scope of Form 26as has been expanded to include more details such as foreign remittances, mutual fund purchases, dividends, refund details etc.

The new ITR filing website launched by www.incometax.gov.in launched by the Income Tax (I-T) Department on 7th June 2021 has simplified the download of Form 26AS as well.

How to download Form 26AS for AY22:
Log in at the official income tax new website — incometax.gov.in;
Click on 'Login' option on the top right of the home page;
After logging in, go to the 'e-file' menu and click on the 'View Form 26 AS (Tax Credit)' link;
Read the disclaimer carefully and click on the 'Confirm' button;
After clicking at the 'Confirm' button of disclaimer, you will be redirected to the TDS-CPC website;
At TDS-CPC website, agree to the acceptance of usages and click on 'Proceed' option;
Click on 'View Tax Credit (Form 26AS)’ option;
Select the assessment year;
Select 'View Type' (HTML, Text or PDF);
Click on 'View/Download'; and
Your Form 26AS will be displayed on the computer monitor or the cell phone screen.
Download and save the Form 26 AS for future usages
