GST taxpayers ALERT: LAST DATE for different categories! File your GSTR for August by TODAY and TOMORROW - See details here

There is an important update for GST taxpayers. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has tweeted about the deadlines for the GST taxpayers under several categories. In case of any queries, the GST taxpayers can login to the official website of GST at gst.gov.in.

The CBIC has tweeted from its official Twitter handle informing the GST taxpayers who are required to deduct Tax at Source (TDS) under GST that the last date of filing GSTR-7 Return for the month of August is September 10, 2021. The tweet said, "Attention GST Taxpayers who are required to deduct Tax at Source (TDS) under GST! File your GSTR-7 Return for the month of August, 2021 by September 10th, 2021."

Again, today, September 10, 2021 is also the last date for filing GSTR-8 Return for the month of August. The tweet from the official Twitter handle of CBIC said, "Attention E-Commerce Operators who are required to collect Tax at Source under GST! Today is the last date to file your GSTR-8 Return for the month of August, 2021."

In case of those who are not under QRMP scheme, the last date for filing the returns for GSTR-1 for the month of August is tomorrow, September 11, 2021. The official CBIC tweet says, "Attention GST Taxpayers who are not under QRMP Scheme! File your GSTR-1 Return for the month of August, 2021 before September 11, 2021."

In this context, the Income Tax (IT) payers must note that the IT Department on Thursday extended the IT return filing date. Taxpayers can now file ITR till December 31, 2021. The decision was taken considering the difficulties reported by the taxpayers and other stakeholders in the filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for the Assessment Year 2021-22 under the Income-tax Act, 1961.
