Chandigarh traders’ memo on GST

The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) has suggested some measures for the simplification of GST procedures and rates.

In a comprehensive memorandum sent to Union Finance Minister (FM) Nirmala Sitharaman, the CBM highlighted the need for simplifying the rates and procedures under the GST so that the new laws are trader-friendly and easy to be followed.

Charanjiv Singh, president, CBM, said the memorandum had been sent with a request to be taken up in the coming GST Council meeting.

He said their major demands included that the number of digits of HSN code required to be filled on the invoice should be same for all traders irrespective of the turnover for B-to-B invoices. However, they suggested that it should be of four digits for all dealers. They suggested allowing submission of revised returns and no scrutiny in cases where returns are timely deposited
